The Agency wanted a dramatic one shot film for Krug that developed their existing stills campaign.
The idea was that if it is not Krug champagne, then it isn’t worth drinking. So all we see is the champagne being thrown contemptuously away.
The problem – the action of throwing a glass of champagne, in reality, only takes 1/4 to 1/2 second – difficult to build a film round that.
The solution – ultra slow motion. We shot at 1200fps, (25fps being live action). Skippy at MPC slowed our material down a further 250+fps in Flame. So what you see is the equivalent to 1500fps.
1/4sec action in reality was slowed down so that it has a screen time of 30+ secs.
